How to Build a Strawberry Pyramid. http://bonnieplants.com How to build a strawberry pyramid.
Grow lots of strawberries in a small space with this pyramid. Prepare the ground and assemble the bottom layer with deck screws. Place the bottom layer centered in the prepared area making sure is nice and level. Cut decorative miters on the end rails of the next three layers and assemble the layers using deck screws. Attach the top layer centered on the third layer using corner braces. Fill the bottom layer with potting soil and smooth. Place the second layer centered on the bottom layer. Centering it will insure uniform space for plants on all sides. Continue to fill with potting soil. Position the third layer and top layers centered on the second layer again to make sure that plant space is uniform. Fasteners aren't needed here as the soil will hold it in place. Continue to fill with potting soil leveling and filling gaps as you go. Set the plants in place and fill in around them being careful not to cover the growing point at the base of the plants. Start with one at the top, two on the next level, three on the next, and four on the bottom. The shorter sides will have fewer plants. Continue to level the soil and fill in gaps as you plant. It's important to water completely right after planting. So water slowly and gently using a water breaker on your hose so the soil doesn't splash out of the box. The soil will then settle into place. And there you have it. A simple and decorative planter.
